Thornton Hibs eased into the third round of the Scottish Communities Cup after turning in their best performance of the season.
Joe Kinninmonth, Sean Cunningham, Keir Allan and Darren Ormiston all came close to giving the Hibs a first-half lead then just before the interval, Macaulay Jarrett in the home goal made a fine save to prevent Kyle Simpson's deflected shot from putting the Aberdeenshire outfit ahead.
As one supporter remarked at half-time “It's just a matter of time until the Hibs score” and sure enough it was Cunningham who put his team ahead in the 58th minute when he reacted quickest after Stuart Drummond's attempt came back off the crossbar.
Thornton really had the bit between their teeth now and in the 65th minute Lewis Bennett headed home Allan's cross to double his side's lead then four minutes later it was all over bar the shouting as Drummond smacked the ball home after his first effort had been blocked.
