If you'd gone to the Bookies in the 19th minute of this game and asked what the odds were on Blackburn winning this game by a five goal margin then they would've surely offered you a million to one!
At that point the Hibs were almost in total control although they only led 1-0 thanks to Daniel McNab's 8th minute strike.
Gavin McGregor levelled affairs in the 20th minute though and after that there was only going to be one winner although admittedly when the influential Stuart Drummond had to be helped from the field with a bad knee injury in the 22nd minute this most certainly didn't help matters.
McGregor claimed his second in the 28th minute after Andrew Jones effort came back off the post to complete the first-half scoring.
Three minutes after the break Cameron Lawson raced clear to net his side's third and he also claimed the fourth eight minutes at the back of that.
By now it was only going to be a damage limitation exercise for Thornton so it was no real surprise when Andrew Jones converted Kyle McClung's cross for number five.
McGregor completed his hat-trick in the 81st minute to make it a day to forget for the visitors.
