Match reporter: JOHN LAING
With a strong wind blowing from one end of Keirs Park to the other this RJM Sports League Cup match turned out to be the proverbial game of two halves.
The first real attempt on goal came when a Murray Black effort smacked off the post then at the other end Macaulay Jarrett denied John Smith but the Haws number 11 wasn't about to take “No” for an answer as he stroked the ball into the unguarded net in the 19th minute following some kamikaze defending.
Barely sixty seconds later some equally poor defending allowed Joe Kinninmonth to knock Black's low cross into the open goal.
Not long at the back of that Kinninmonth came close to putting the Hibs ahead then Blair Penman made a great save to deny Black.
Just as it looked as if the first-half would end all-square Conor Scott rose to head home Lewis Elder's cross to re-establish the hosts' lead.
Then early in the second half Jake Mitchell doubled the Haws lead from the spot after Jamie McNeish impeded Ross Allum in the box.
Penman prevented Lewis Bennett from reducing the deficit, but the next goal came at the other end as Smith claimed his second of the night with a low drive from 15 yards.
Scott Reekie claimed his team's fifth goal in the 75th minute before Sean Cunningham headed home Daniel McNab's corner-kick for a late consolation.
