After two defeats Thornton got back to winning ways in their last home game of the season but they did it the hard way by coming from behind twice.
It was the 34th minute when Fraser Smith's shot from outside the box squirmed under Macaulay Jarrett to give the Bleachers the lead but two minutes before half-time Sean Cunningham rose at the back post to head home Shaun Keatings' free-kick.
Luncarty regained the lead in the 68th minute with a terrific strike from Aaron Rae that gave Craig Doctor, on the occasion of his first appearance of the season, absolutely no chance.
Cunningham headed another equaliser in the 80th minute, this time from a Lewis Rodger corner-kick then four minutes later Zak Simpson in the visitors goal pulled off a terrific save to deny Lewis Bennett.
In the 90th minute Corey Sweeney came close to putting his side ahead for the third time but instead two minutes into added time another Rodger corner-kick was converted by Stuart Drummond to earn the Hibs all three points.
Next Saturday Thornton travel to take on Whitehill Welfare for their final game of a memorable season.
