Match reporter: JOHN LAING
The day after Good Friday was an even Gooder Saturday as far as the Hibs were concerned as they recorded their fifth league win on the trot with this victory allowing them to ease into second spot in the league.
Both teams came close to finding an opener in the first-half the closest thing being a Joe Kinninmonth effort that smacked off the top of the post but it remained goal-less when the half-time whistle sounded.
The second-half was only seconds old when Brodie Watt hit a screamer that wasn't far away from counting but the deadlock was finally broken in the 70th minute. Ross McRae in the visitors' goal made a hash of a passback from Ross Grant resulting in Thornton being awarded a corner-kick. Ciaran Healy took a short one to Kinninmonth whose cross found Dan McBay and his goal-bound header was smacked over the line by Keir Allan to give Craig Gilbert's side the lead.
Terrific play by Healy ended with the Hibs nr 11 shooting narrowly wide – although he was to enjoy better fortune later. But not before Leith skipper, Sonny Swanson hit a screamer from some distance to level affairs in the 81st minute.
Barely sixty seconds later Healy put the Hibs back in front after McRae could only push McBay's effort into his path to spark off great celebrations although I'm not sure that the lady who cleans the kit would agree with the players sliding on the heavy pitch!!
