It was short-staffed Hibs who eventually went on to collect a very valuable three points from this very keenly contested affair.

Garry Thomson and Adam Robertson both came close to finding the net early on but it wasn't until the 21st minute that the latter sped past Cameron Forbes then played a perfect low pass for the former to net from close range.

This lead lasted for twelve minutes until the visitors equalised in controversial circumstances. It looked to many people that Jamie McNeish had been pushed to the ground by Jakey Whittle before the Uni number nine ran on then smashed the ball low into the net from an acute angle. This (non) decision incensed the Hibs' manager, Craig Gilbert, so much that he was shown a red card by the referee for 'offering his opinion'.

Thornton came close to re-establishing the lead a few times but when the half-time whistle was blown it was still all-square.

After both teams created goal-scoring opportunities without success eventually it was the visitors who did find the net in the 52nd minute after Jacob Shyngle rose to head home William Antoniuk's corner-kick.

By the 63rd minute it was even-stevens with Garry Thomson again being the Hibs' marksman and he came mighty close to completing his hat-trick ten minutes later with a shot that was cleared off the line.

The winning goal came in the 75th minute after Stuart Drummond headed home Tommy SImpson's assist although Jacob Landau came mighty close to grabbing a point for the Capital side in the 87th minute with a fierce strike that took the paint off the outside of the post.
