At a blistering hot King George V Park, Thornton completed their pre-season friendlies with a narrow victory on a day when goal-scoring opportunities were at a premium.

The closest thing to a goal in the first-half came when Stuart Drummond directed Jamie McNeish's corner-kick on target but Stefan Anderson blocked the ball on the line.

Drummond had better luck six minutes into the second-half as he converted a penalty after Aaron Clunie had impeded McNeish in the area.
