Despite losing their 100% record, Thornton still moved back to the top of the league on goal difference after gaining a hard-earned point at Westfield Park.
In the opening stages, both teams created decent chances, the first falling to Darren Ormiston who shot narrowly wide for the Hibs. Next, Dunipace's Alex Thomson blasted his effort over the bar before the home 'keeper, David Kane, saved well from Garry Thomson.
Jordan Millar had to look lively to smother Alan McFadden's low drive after he was well set up by Sam Colley but it was Andy Adam who finally broke the deadlock in the 14th minute with a terrific 20 yard drive into 'the top bin' after a good build up involving Ormiston and Max Coleman.
It's often said that a team are at their most vulnerable after they've just scored and this was almost the case because almost straight from the re-start, Colley played in Greg McPherson but a well-timed last-ditch tackle from Dean McMillan prevented the Dunipace man from getting his shot away.
The home side came flying out of the blocks at the beginning of the second-half with left back,Ryan Shanks, sending in a great low cross that flashed across the face of goal with nobody in a black and white jersey able to take advantage. Then at the other end, Jack Hoskisson cut inside but his net-bound effort was blocked for a fruitless corner-kick.
In the 58th minute (the 328th minute of the season!), Jordan Millar finally conceded a goal and it was a superbly struck shot from McFadden that fairly whizzed into the bottom far corner of the net.
Thereafter, Dunipace looked the more likely to add to their tally although Jamie McNeish almost snatched a late winner only to be denied by a brilliant point-blank save from Kane.
