Thornton didn't exactly march into the second round of the Scottish Junior Cup – it was more of a slow walk, but in this competition getting your name into the next draw is all that matters.
Shaun Keatings, just like he'd done the previous week, put the Hibs ahead from the penalty spot in the 39th minute after Garry Thomson had been fouled but only a great challenge from Adam Drummond on Neil Irvine prevented the visitors from equalising just before half-time.
It wasn't until the 80th minute that the home support could relax when Daniel McNab eventually shot home after taking on and beating several defenders – some more than once – and maybe this great goal was worth the admission money alone.
Only a brilliant flying save from Morgan Cook right at the death prevented Matthew Robertson's great strike from making it three but this didn't affect the result with the Hibs now looking forward to next Sunday's draw.
