That there were only two goals in this game is chiefly down to the fact that both goalkeepers were in the mood, pulling off a string of fine saves.
The first came from the visitors' Dale Cornet who tipped a netbound screamer from Garry Thomson over the top. Ryan Linton then came to the Hibs' rescue with a terrific flying save and as result, the first-half ended goal-less.
On the hour mark, Cornet denied Daniel McNab and then it was Linton's turn again to save superbly from Scott Waugh's drive. The deadlock was finally broken in the 77th minute when Jack Fairgrieve cut in from the left and smashed the ball home to give Arniston the lead.
A minute later only a brave diving save from Cornet at the feet of Thomson prevented a certain goal.
Cornet could nothing though about Adam Drummond's fierce drive from distance that fairly zinged into the bottom corner of the net. Even on day one of the new season it's fair to say that it will take a helluva strike to beat this one to be 'Goal of the Season'.
