Another clean sheet and another three points allowed Thornton to remain in top equal spot of the North Division.
Chris Ireland gave the Hibs a 23rd minute lead with Garry Thomson's volley making it two shortly after.
By the the half hour mark it was all over bar the shouting as Max Coleman's terrific free-kick flashed beyond Gavin Wilson. Just before half-time, Ireland netted from the penalty spot after the 'Burgh goalkeeper brought down Shaun Keatings.
That there was only one goal in the second-half – Ewan Henderson scored with two minutes remaining – was down to sloppy finishing by the men in green although Wilson should also be credited for making some good saves to keep the scoreline respectable.
