Armadale came from behind twice to salvage a point at a sunny Memorial Park.
Bryan Strachan, with his first goal for the club, gave Thornton an 11th minute lead when, after side-stepping his opponent, he shot low into the net.
The Hibs' trialist goalie (the seventh man to wear the number one jersey this season) saved from Liam Gray and when the ball came back to Stephen Pusledski he headed just past as the visitors pushed for an equaliser. Alec Wade enjoyed more success in the 35th minute with a brilliant chip that nestled in the far side-net giving the 'keeper no chance.
Three minutes later, Raymond Crichton set off on a 'trademark' mazy run before laying the ball off to Mathew Gay and his vicious shot brought out one of the saves of the season from Bruno Maltoni. The Hibs weren't to be denied though and just before half-time, Garry Thomson's 20 yard screamer put his side back in front after he'd been cleverly set up by the trialist striker, Coco Mullen.
Early in the second-half, Maltoni made another great save from Gay and this was crucial as the visitors drew level in the 58th minute when Steven Weir's free-kick was missed by everyone and ended up bouncing into the net at the back post.
