East Craigie won this Scottish Junior Cup replay by the odd goal in five against an injury-ravaged Thornton team that was patched up to allow them to put a team on the field.
Garry Thomson came desperately close to opening the scoring in the 8th minute with a terrific strike from fully 35 yards that cannoned off The Shipbuilders' crossbar, but just four minutes later Stephen McNally's brilliantly taken free-kick entered the net at 'the postage stamp' to give the home side the lead.
The Hibs drew level in the 28th minute through Daniel McNab's header to complete the first-half scoring.
In the 62nd minute, Andy Macdonald had an opportunity to put East Craigie back in front from the penalty spot after Lee Maloney went down following Bradley Grieve's tackle but as well as sending Mark Rowbotham the wrong way, he also sent the ball the wrong way as it slipped harmlessly wide of target.
Three minutes later though, the Dundee side went ahead, Maloney passed to Greg Houston and his shot came back off the goal frame to Nicholas Mann who smashed the loose ball home.
This lead lasted until the 72nd minute when Chris Ireland netted from the spot after Daniel McNab had been brought down.
With four minutes remaining, Mann netted East Craigie's third goal and this time there was no coming back for Thornton.
