The Hibs maintained their unbeaten start to the season and by doing so, they eased into second spot in the table following this victory in Crosshill.
Garry Thomson dived to head home Mathew Gay’s cross in the 14th minute to put the visitors ahead and Gay doubled this lead with another header – this time from a Stevie Leslie corner-kick – three minutes before the interval.
Scott Renton’s well-measured chip reduced the deficit to one in the 58th minute but Chris Ireland’s header from Gay’s perfect cross in the 68th minute put the Hibs two ahead again.
Yet another header – this time Thomson benefited from Leslie’s corner-kick – put Thornton 4-1 up in the 73rd minute but Lochore wouldn’t lie down and five minutes later Callum Deas’ cross was converted by Greig Renton.
The last word, though, went to Garry Thomson who volleyed home Chris Ireland’s clever dink in the 84th minute to make the final score 5-2.
