Daniel McNab claimed his first ever hat-trick in a green and white jersey as the Hibs romped to an 8-1 win at Guthrie Park.
Mathew Gay gave the visitors a fourth minute lead and ten minutes later Garry Thomson doubled their tally.
In the 27th minute, McNab claimed his first goal by coolly slipping past Josh Gorton then guiding the ball into the empty net. Seven minutes later, McNab mugged Gary Godfrey then shot past the helpless Gorton. Right on half-time, Sean Ferrar reduced the deficit as he netted from the penalty spot after an infringement by Jimmy Shields.
McNab completed his hat-trick in the 51st minute and not long after, Thornton were reduced to ten men when Ryan McNeil was ordered-off for a second yellow card offence.
In the 66th minute, Garry Thomson hit his second with a first time shot from Chris Ireland’s perfect cross and four minutes later, Raymond Crichton, after just coming on as a substitute, netted the Hibs’ seventh.
And it was Crichton who made it a debut to remember by hitting the final goal five minutes from time.
