A quick-fire double from Stevie Leslie just before half-time went a long way towards Thornton winning their first home game of the season.
His first, in the 39th minute, was a close range volley following Chris Ireland’s corner-kick and his second, two minutes later, was a back post header from Adam Drummond’s deep cross.
Nick McGowan’s 71st minute left foot strike from range – his first in 52 appearances for the Hibs – put his team three up but after that, Scone came more into things and deservedly pulled one back through Jamie Ayton eight minutes later.
With four minutes remaining, substitute Ross Morgan sealed victory for Thornton who, as a result of this victory, eased into third spot in the table.
