Despite going behind to an early goal, Thornton came storming back to make it five wins on the spin and the margin of victory could’ve been even greater but for some terrific goalkeeping by Jason Curran.
 
Liam Craig gave Star a 2nd minute lead when he took full advantage of slack defending to shoot home from close range. The Hibs came close to equalising most notably when Aiden Gordon’s strike slammed off the crossbar and when Garry Thomson squeezed in a shot that ran along the goal line before being cleared.

Thornton eventually levelled affairs on the half-hour mark as Adam Drummond netted from the penalty spot after being impeded in the area.

Three minutes later the Hibs took the lead when the unfortunate Ally Gray could only divert Gary Thomson’s corner kick into his own net.

Right on half-time Andrew Adam floated in a free-kick that eventually found Drummond and he calmly extended the Hibs’ lead to two when netting from close range.

The only goal of the second-half came in the 66th minute as Aiden Gordon got on the end of Garry Thomson’s cross to lash the ball home from five yards out.
