The Hibs had five different scorers in what ended up a convincing win although there wasn’t much between the teams in the opening forty-five.
Mathew Gay’s left foot shot from 10 yards gave Thornton a 27th minute lead but just three minutes later it was all square after Richard Doig netted from the spot following a hotly disputed penalty award.
Just before the interval, Aiden Gordon’s cool finish gave Craig Gilbert’s men something to build on in the second-half.
In the 53rd minute, the Hibs doubled their lead. Kris Maxwell won the ball and laid it off to Adam Drummond who, in turn, sent a great pass up the inside left channel to Aiden Gordon and his first time cross was perfect for Garry Thomson to head home his eighteenth goal of the season.
Another cross from Gordon afforded Chris Ireland the opportunity to make it four in the 81st minute then deep into stoppage time, Ian Main netted from close range to complete the scoring.
