For the third time in just five days, Thornton conceded four goals. This, coupled with the fact that they’ve only found the net twice in the last 360 minutes, does not make for good reading in any language.
Richard Doig gave the visitors a 9th minute lead and just before half-time Mark Duigan came close to doubling this advantage with a header from close range but Mark Rowbotham made a brilliant point blank save to keep the ball out.
Duigan wasn’t to be denied though, and in the 57th minute he connected with Chucky Carr’s corner-kick to make it two. Another Carr corner was headed home by the unmarked Neil Gardiner eleven minutes later and then four minutes from time, Carr’s deep cross from the left fell in at the back post to complete another night of woe for the Hibs.
Victory for Kinnoull allowed them to leapfrog Dundonald into top spot in the race for championship success.
