If Alan Hansen had analysed this game he would’ve undoubtedly described some of the defending from both teams as “diabolical”. Despite this, it has to be said that Craig Hall had arguably his best game in a Hibs’ jersey and really didn’t deserve to end up on a losing team.
On a more positive note, there were 7 goals for the supporters who would probably enjoy watching this rather than a goal-less end of season encounter where defences were well on top.
Adam Drummond got on the end of Kris Maxwell’s free-kick to head a 13th minute opener for the Hibs and Coco Mullen – captain for the night – almost made it two a wee while later but his shot was blocked on the line.
A terrific first-time finish from Lewis Mackie in the 34th minute levelled the game and then Fraser Terras inadvertently put the ball in his own goal to give the visitors the lead. Just as it looked as if that would be all the first-half scoring, Andrew Adam equalised from close range.
On the hour mark, Alan Stewart beat the offside trap, rounded Mark Rowbotham and guided the ball into the net.
In the 72nd minute it was all-square again, this time Lee White’s brilliant chip on the angle giving Michael Whyte no chance.
With just one minute remaining, a deep cross found the unmarked Lewis Mackie and his header flashed into the back of the net.
