Dundonald kept alive their hopes for league glory with this victory at Memorial Park. Thornton made life difficult for them though and it was only two late goals that eventually sealed all three points.
The visitors took the lead in the 11th minute from the penalty spot after Steven Page had been impeded in the area. Although Mark Rowbotham went the right way, he couldn’t prevent Gary Greenhill’s strike from hitting the back of the net.
The Hibs fought back and in the 35th minute, Lee White headed home John Halley’s corner-kick.
The Bluebell regained the lead shortly before the interval. Scott Bissett played the ball into the path of the former Hibs’ man Murray Carstairs and he blasted an unstoppable shot on the angle past Rowbotham.
Dundonald came close to extending their lead most notably when Marco Pelosi’s shot slammed off the upright and when Stuart Cargill’s header struck the underside of the crossbar but it wasn’t until late on that goals from Stephen Forbes and Murray Carstairs secured the victory.
