Match report

Late goals have cost the Hibs dear this season and so it proved to be again at Tulloch Park in their first away league game of the season. On this occasion they were leading 2-1 with quarter of an hour to go before the home side scored three in nine minutes to secure the win bonus.
The day got off to the worst possible start for Craig Gilbert’s men. Matthew Gay passed a late fitness test to enable him to start the game but within two minutes he went down with no one near him with a knee injury that was causing him serious discomfort. After played was stopped for well over five minutes, he was eventually stretchered off with Kevin Wallace taking his place wide on the right.
Lee Deans was a thorn in the visitors’ side all afternoon and it was he who put Kinnoull ahead in the 29th minute. Five minutes later, it was all-square. Kevin Wallace powered past Sean Fleming then sent in a low cross. Kinnoull ‘keeper, Duncan Bruce, looked to have it covered however the ball squirmed from his grasp allowing Andy Adam to stab home.
A minute later, Kinnoull came close to regaining the lead but a terrific flying save from Kevin Smith prevented Chris Webster’s low drive from counting. Late in the half, both teams had chances to go in front. Andy McDonald came toThornton’s rescue with a goal-line clearance and at the other end, Kevin Wallace was just off target with a 15 yard volley.
Thornton took the lead in the 56th minute with Fraser Terras claiming his first ever goal for the club. Gary Thomson played Kevin Wallace down the right and his deep cross found the head of John Paul Burns. The ex-Hearts man nodded the ball back into the danger area and it was only partially cleared to Terras who smashed the ball high into the net.
A defence-splitting pass from Chris Gay sent Lee White through one on one with Duncan Bruce but his shot flashed over the target. Had that gone in, there might’ve been a different outcome but thereafter it was virtual one-way traffic as the home side threw everything in Kevin Smith’s direction. Smith made a great save to deny Keith Dewar but he was powerless to prevent David Carr from heading a 76th minute equaliser. Gavin Tinley put Kinnoull back in front five minutes later and Carr completed the scoring in the 85th minute.
Kinnoull: Bruce, Timmons, S. Fleming, McKerchar, Duigan, Dewar, Deans, Webster, Fraser, Doig, Carr. Subs: Smith, Tinley, D. Fleming, Price, Bone, Kelly.
Referee: Mr K. Schroeder
