A late goal from substitute, Robbie Feeney, gave the home side the points that assured them Premier League football next season. Did they deserve them? Probably not - perhaps a draw might've been a fairer outcome but in a game of few chances, Feeney took his one well whilst Thornton couldn't find the net, for the second game in succession.
And yet they were given a great opportunity to take the lead in the 34th minute. The referee must've been the only man in the ground to spot an infringement when Murray Carstairs attempted to get on the end of Chris Mill's cross. There were certainly no claims from the visitors for a penalty but that was the judgement made by the man in yellow. To make things worse for Armadale, the bemused Scott Mauchline was red-carded for apparently denying a goal-scoring opportunity. Perhaps Chris Mill was embarrassed by this decision because he screwed his spot-kick wide of Stuart Walker's goal.
Cynical supporters reckon that some referees might like to "even things up" if they, with hindsight, reckon they've made a howler. That was certainly the view of some of the Thornton supporters when Mathew Gay received a second yellow for simulation.
With two minutes remaining, Gary Brown sent a great low cross into the area where the unmarked Feeney took his time before shooting low into the net.
