In one of only two matches to go ahead in the East Region, the Hibs came from behind to claim all three points in this Thorntons Property League Cup game.
It was Grant Skinner who gave the visitors the lead in the 13th minute when he headed home Ryan Hughes' corner-kick but Stuart Drummond levelled from the spot just three minutes later after Adam Drummond's header had been handled on the line by Hughes with the 'Burgh midfielder being red-carded for this indiscretion.
Garry Thomson was out of luck when his header came back off the crossbar in the 29th minute and in the 37th minute he had another attempt which rebounded off the post but on this occasion Scott Orrock was handily placed to ram the ball home from close range.
In the 53rd minute Adam Drummond rose to head home Andy Adam's free-kick and it was from another dead-ball situation that Newburgh conceded again in the 72nd minute when Iain Millar got on the end of Matthew Robertson's cross to make it four.
Five minutes later the scoring was completed when Garry Thomson jnr rammed the ball home after Adam Drummond's free-kick had been deflected into his path.
