With no 'real' fixture scheduled, Thornton travelled to take on Cupar Hearts at an immaculate Duffus Park for a friendly match.

The Hibs dominated first-half proceedings but only had a Ben Anthony strike on the half-hour mark to count for all their efforts. Earlier, Stuart Drummond watched a header come back off the crossbar and Gavin Wilson saved well from Shaun Keatings.

The only two chances of note at the other end came when Ryan Linton turned Sean Murdoch's shot wide and then Craig Begg had a strike from distance deflected wide for a corner-kick.

Cupar were a different proposition in the second-half and enjoyed far more possession in Thornton territory but they just couldn't convert this into goals.

With seconds remaining Jack Hoskisson netted the Hibs' second goal from close range when he was handily placed after Garry Thomson's shot came back off the frame of the goal.
