Manager Gilbert took advantage of this friendly last night to get some game time for those players returning from injury or who have not featured in recent matches.

It proved to be an entertaining game, with the Hibs recording a narrow victory against a well-drilled home side.

Bo'ness opened the scoring in the 15th minute when they took advantage of a slack pass in defence. The equaliser arrived on the half hour mark when Lewis Rodger thundered a shot into the top corner from around 22 yards.

Rodger gave the Hibs a half-time lead when he struck a fierce low shot into the bottom corner of the net after pouncing on a Daniel McNab cut-back.

The Hibs increased their lead in the 57th minute when Shaun Keatings got on the end of a delightful cross from Russell Grierson to volley beyond the home goalie.

Another defensive error allowed Bo'ness to get a second ten minutes from time, but Thornton held on comfortably.
